While visiting my family over Easter- my brother gave us the coolest height chart that he made himself- I love having it in our laundry room- not only does it look good but it is made from eastern red cedar and smells amazing! check him out on https://www.facebook.com/pages/Waters-Edge-Woods/164932003696807

Foyer!

We have been wanting to get all the trim painted in our house since we have moved in- super excited to say that after 2 years of living here we finally got a few more rooms done!  This week we decided to get the foyer, living room, and dining room painted.  All the trim is done in Benjamin Moore White Dove.  Walls are in Sherwin Williams Creamy.  All doors and window sashes are done in Benjamin Moore Midnight Dream.  We still have some ways to go- but I am trilled with the results!
Finished Product:  Doors done in High Gloss Benjamin Moore Midnight Dream

Testing out stain for the stairs and bannister

After testing the stains we decided to go with the same black plaint we use on the doors- the stains either looked too light or too dark compared to the black we had already used around the house :  Benjamin Moore Midnight Dream
Primer Up!

Finished Paint!  We still plan to replace light fixtures and take up carpet from stairs within the next few months.

Window Box Tulips

First of all- I have NO idea if this will work or look good... But we had some leftover bulbs and I thought- "why not"?  Also I believe this is not the right time of year to plant bulbs so if these come up then I will be happy and surprised.  Mr. T and I planted these together so we had some fun at least :)

We will keep ya posted!

Just a few more things to do on the patio-this includes:
-Installing 2 umbrellas that will be mounted on the brick wall
-2 cushions for swivel chairs
-potted plants
-find a cool outdoor bar cart for putting a TV on for football tailgating at our home
-small side table to go beside swivel chairs
-colorful outdoor pillows
-outdoor dog bed for bailey

My goal is to do this for under $200- I have already spent $25 on spray paint.

Family Pictures

Seeing all the fall items in the stores is getting me excited about the holidays!  Brian and I started to talk about what we will do for this Christmas' Family Picture.  Last years came out so cute- I don't know how it can be topped.  Luckily- we have one of the best photographers in Greensboro -ever:  Dano Keeney  He has done Tucker's infant pictures as well as our Christmas Pictures last year.  Here are some of my favs!

Little guy trying to grab the camera

This is our most favorite EVER!  we used this for the cover of our card and then the pic of our shoes for the back.

A little off the bottom

We just trimmed one of our front trees- really opened up the house!  I wish I had before pictures!  I can tell you that you could not see the front of the house that well with how it was before.

Long term plans for exterior of house:
  • Painting brick exterior cream
  • Black hinged shutters
  • Cedar shingle roof
  • Climbing vine for over front door
  • Window boxes?  Maybe...
  • More plants of course :)
  • Lamp Post

A Touch of Glass

Inspiration

When we moved into our house it appeared that the original chandelier was removed and replaced with this pendent light... not so glam ;)

Dining Room when we first moved in

So knowing that we are doing this house on a budget, I could not go off and spend too much money- we have lots more to do!  I got this chandelier at www.spectrumhome3.com and it was under $300!  Now- it looks very fancy- but don't touch it- because it is glass and might break- just kidding (it is totally sturdy).  We really like it and are excited to do more in this room.

After New Chandelier

Picture of chandelier before I put in the correct wattage- yikes that is bright

There is still so much to do in this room.  Some of my plans include:
  • gray or navy grasscloth above chair moulding
  • antique ceiling medallion around chandelier
  • curtain wall (like in living room)
  • finding a buffet or sideboard
  • painting trim and below chair moulding white- but window frames black
  • painting table like below
